1965 – 2024
It is with profound sadness that COMMON announces the passing of our dear colleague and friend, Fred Pritchard. Fred’s untimely passing on October 4, 2024, has left a hole in the heart of COMMON. He served as our IT Manager, was a cherished member of the COMMON family for nearly three decades, having joined the organization in 1995. His presence was a cornerstone of our team, and his contributions to our community were invaluable.
Fred’s journey with COMMON began with his passion for technology, which he carried throughout his career. His early days included working as an AS/400 (B60) operator at World Book Financial Services, where he quickly advanced to become a Programmer/Analyst and eventually the Programming Manager. With a Business Programming degree from Columbus State Community College, Fred brought both technical expertise and a genuine enthusiasm for helping others navigate complex IT systems.
Fred was often the first friendly face that attendees would see at our conferences, and the welcoming voice for members calling into our organization. He played a vital role in ensuring our organization ran seamlessly, handling everything from on-site logistics to lab setup, leading the Tech Team, and managing all our back-end systems. His unwavering dedication, quick problem-solving, kind demeanor, and warm heart made him a beloved figure to colleagues, members, and conference attendees alike.
But Fred was so much more than his role at COMMON, he was family. A bright spirit, a loyal friend, and a man of many interests, he leaves behind his beloved mother, sister, brother, innumerable friends, and his cherished cats, who brought him joy and companionship.
As we reflect on his life, we are reminded of the countless times Fred went above and beyond to support our team and members, always with a smile and a laugh. His positive attitude, generous heart, and deep knowledge have left an indelible mark on our organization and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Fred’s absence will be deeply felt, but his memory will forever remain a part of COMMON. We will continue to honor him at each event, in every registration line, and through the community that meant so much to him. We invite everyone to join us in celebrating his life and legacy.
Fred, thank you for your friendship, dedication, and the countless ways you made COMMON a better place. You will be missed more than words can express.
