The COMMON Americas Advisory Council

Two years ago, IBM created the COMMON Americas Advisory Councils (CAAC) to help them find out how the market would react to the strategic directions IBM was taking.

The first group of volunteer CAAC members met before each fall COMMON conference to share ideas and feedback with IBM. At the end of their two-year tenure, the group agreed that it was ready to accept Requirements from COMMON members to pass along to IBM.

IBM and COMMON are looking for a limited number of additional participants to join the group beginning in 2006. Please note that this is a two-year commitment, and all accepted applicants will be requested to sign a confidential non-disclosure contract.

Criteria for selection:

    1. General IT knowledge
    2. General business knowledge
    3. Leadership qualities
    4. Vision for the future in IT terms
    5. Vision for the future in business terms
    6. Presentation qualities
    7. Availability to be away from office/home for two days twice a year

COMMON will select approximately six appropriate candidates to become CAAC members. It is COMMON's discretion to interview the candidates for a final choice or just to judge them on the basis of the application. The list with selected candidates with their applications will be submitted to IBM for final approval.

Procedure for applying
Download a PDF of the CAAC application form, complete it, and e-mail it as an attachment to CAAC@common.org.
