Meet Fellow Professionals New to IBM i!
Our mission is to help new IBM i professionals navigate their way through the formative years in their careers by providing advocacy, community, and education.
The New to IBM i (N2i) group was formed to give people who are new to the platform a way to connect and engage with one another. IBM i and its heritage are unique in the tech world as it has been built and supported by the user community. N2i is a subset group focused on fulfilling the unique needs of our newest IBM i tech professionals.
N2i also collaborates regularly with the IBM Academic Initiative and the COMMON Education Foundation to help students exiting academia and entering the IBM i workforce. We help connect, identify, and support new talent during their formative years on the platform and aid in the transition from college student into an IBM i professional.
Members don’t have to be young to be part of N2i, just new to the system of IBM i. More experienced professionals can still benefit from the community networking opportunities and the educational resources available to N2i members. Beyond helping students become professionals and providing networking and educational opportunities, the N2i community provides insight into running open source applications on IBM i.
Our group currently works with the IBM Academic Initiative and the COMMON Education Foundation to help bring new talent to our platform. We also provide a means for young entrants to the i job market a place to network with their peers. As a service to the community, we also provide insight into running open source applications on IBM i as well as hosting our own Getting Started series, a series of monthly conversations, each focusing on the very basics of different areas of IT on IBM i. These meetings will serve to help professionals who are new to the platform build a firm foundation for the best utilization of IBM i. The group will be joined by a leading industry expert at each meeting who will answer questions and give tips.
