What the heck is ‘YiPs’?

The YiPs are the ‘Young i Professionals’—a group of professionals who are either relatively new to the business computing work-world or new to IBM i and Power Systems. Through meetings at COMMON and outreach via the Young i Professionals website, the YiPs focus on education, information sharing and advocacy. The YiPs began several years ago at the COMMON Annual conference in Toronto and has continued to grow. In the last year, the YiPs has officially transitioned from a loosely based group that met at COMMON each year to a much more active community within the greater IBM i community.

What’s so great about the Young i Professionals?

The YiPs reach is global and spans many major industries—from manufacturing and distribution to publishing and services. Working with COMMON, the IBM Power Systems Academic Initiative and the IBM i community of professionals, the YiPs website has continued to exceed expectations in providing valuable content on open source utilities and applications, Q&A through forums, and examples of the wide range of possibilities IBM i users have at their disposal.
