Upcoming Webinars

TCP/IP

Presenter: Larry Bolhuis, Frankeni Technology Consulting, LLC

August 5, 12, 19 & 26 (Wednesdays) - 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm CT.

In today's world nearly everything communicates over TCP/IP. In this four session webinar we will cover the basics of addressing and routing and configuring IBM i to communicate over TCP/IP. We will also work with redundant and load balanced interfaces to make TCP/IP as reliable as IBM i
itself. We will cover all of the TCP/IP Services and Clients provided with IBM i. We will discuss how to configure them and how to use them as well as security and performance implications and the assignment of digital certificates. Some of the services covered are Netserver (SMB file shares) NFS, QFileSvr.400, Telnet, FTP, SNTP, SSH, DNS, SHCP and more.

Learning Objectives: After attending this webinar, you will be able to:

  1. Configure your system to communicate with TCP/IP including creating LAN connections, IP addresses, routes, host table and DNS entries.
  2. Configure and use the TCP/IP servers provided with IBM i to make your data and other system resources available to clients outside IBM i.
  3. Configure and use the TCP/IP Clients provided with IBM i to access resources and data on other servers including Windows, *NIX, and other IBM i servers.
  • Session 1: Part I TCP/IP Addressing
  • Session 2: Part II TCP/IP Routing
  • Session 3: Network and IP configuration
  • Session 4: Server and client configuration

Audience: This webinar is for developers and system administrators charged with connecting IBM i to and from other systems.
