Call for Presentations

The Call for Presentations in now OPEN for 2010 Annual Meeting and Exposition

The "Call for Presentations" is now open for the COMMON 2010 Annual Meeting and Exposition in Orlando, Florida.  If you wish to submit a new session for consideration, please do so before 5:00 pm CT, Friday, September 4, 2009 at http://common.confex.com/common/s10/cfp.cgi .

Please be aware that COMMON speaker reimbursement guidelines have changed from previous Annual Meetings.  An in depth explanation of the policy can be found here:  http://www.common.org/conferences/speakers/benefits/guidelines.html

A Note on New Submissions:
Now and then a new technology comes along that affects how we all do our jobs. Or, a technology that has been around for a while suddenly takes on new importance in your business environment. As IT professionals it is important for us to spot the trends, understand what they have to offer and lead the charge; otherwise, we risk getting trampled when users or management start the stampede.

For the Annual Meeting we are specifically looking for sessions that provide an overview of new technologies or products. Sessions should concentrate on what the technology or product is, why it is important and where it can best be used. Even better if you have a session that compares and contrasts different technologies or products, please consider submitting it.
We are especially interested in any sessions that may fit into one of the following categories:

  • Integration – mixing i, AIX and/or LINUX
  • Encryption
  • Cloud computing
  • Blade
  • Web 2.0
  • Application Modernization
  • Web Services
  • Frameworks

When submitting such an abstract, please select “New Technology Overview” as the Course of Study.  However, you are of course free to submit any other new session you think may be worth presenting.  If the abstract is unrelated to New Technology Overview, simply select the relevant Course of Study when prompted – IBM i – Application Development, AIX – Security, etc.

The review process for all sessions will take place September through early October.  You will hear back from me on the results during the third week in October. If you have any questions, please contact Ian Cartwright at ian_cartwright@common.org or 312-279-0204.

If you have questions about an event or the submission process, contact Ian Cartwright .
