AIX Call for Presentations

Submit a Session for Consideration at the 2009 Annual Meeting and Exposition

The COMMON 2009 Annual Meeting and Exposition is the place for you to spread your knowledge and expertise on the AIX platform. Whether you are a seasoned presenter or a user with a success story to share, our audience wants to learn from you. If your experience is i centric, p centric or both i and p, there are others who want and need your advice.

COMMON’s education team is looking for session proposals that include, but are not limited to, the topics listed below. We are looking for hands-on labs - case studies – overviews - tips and techniques - technical sessions - all-day workshops - and sessions that compare and contrast IBM i and AIX.

The Annual Meeting is a five-day conference held Sunday – Thursday. Eligible speakers earn one COMMON Credit per 1.25 hour session or lab they present, which can be used toward conference expenses (registration, housing, etc.). If the session is accepted to the agenda, the speaker is required to become a member of COMMON.

About COMMON:

COMMON is the largest and oldest users group of IBM midrange users, serving the needs of all Power Systems users for almost 50 years by providing education, building a strong community, and becoming that community’s collective voice to IBM and other vendors through advocacy efforts.

Historically, COMMON had been focused in the AS/400 and IBM i space, but with the merging of technologies we now serve the needs of AIX and Linux users as well – truly encompassing the entire Power Systems community.  We are the largest independent users group for the Power Systems community, representing nearly 20,000 IT professionals and growing.  Learn more about COMMON at http://www.common.org.

About the COMMON 2009 Annual Meeting and Exposition:

The COMMON Annual Meeting and Exposition is our largest conference event of the year and the premier Power Systems-related educational conference in the business computing industry.  It provides attendees with over 500 educational sessions to choose from, over five days, on AIX and IBM i related topics; all delivered by industry experts. Our speakers are a diverse group of consultants, programmers, administrators, business owners, IBM business partners, and IBM employees. Our sessions include hands-on labs, case studies, overviews, tips and techniques, technical sessions and all-day workshops.

The Exposition is the largest of its kind, giving attendees the ability to supplement their education with the latest Power Systems-related solutions available.  There are over 90 vendors present in the Exposition, allowing attendees and speakers an unprecedented opportunity to experience the next generation of technologies and solutions first-hand.

The Annual Meeting and Exposition also provides attendees with extraordinary networking opportunities with other members of the COMMON community.  Beyond the education, attendees can have fun and share with their peers, renowned speakers, IBM executives, and fellow members. The Annual Meeting and Exposition is the most cost-effective conference option available to Power Systems users to meet their 2009 educational needs.
