OPEN LAB: WebSphere Application Server: Things You Didn't Know it Could Do!

Speaker(s):
Vanessa Grose IBM Corporation

This lab consists of two exercises, both dealing with support for new application types in Web Sphere Application Server V6.1. Version 6.1 of the application server provides both a portlet container for running JSR 168 compliant portlet applications and a session initiation protocol (SIP) container, in which you can run JSR 116 SIP servlet applications.

In this lab you will:

1. Use the Application Server Toolkit to develop and package a simple SIP servlet application.
2. Deploy Web applications to your server using the administrative console.
3. See how to use special JSP tags to perform portlet aggregation.
4. Run portlet and SIP applications on the application server.
