LAB: IceBreak Application Server for ILE

Speaker(s):
Jim Cooper System & Method International
Niels Liisberg System & Method

This session is a follow-up to IceBreak session 510113. IceBreak is the only native HTTP and application server that runs natively on System i5, iSeries, and AS/ 400. Developers build and deploy Web applications using the ILE native languages RPG and COBOL, and modern technologies like SQL, XHTML, XML, Web Services, and AJAX. IceBreak is not a tool. It is a powerful advanced application server that does not require CGI, Java, Apache, WebSphere (WAS), PASE, WebFacing, HATS, or third-party generator tools.

By the end of this lab, attendees will understand how to:
1. Install the IceBreak application server.
2. Create an IceBreak Web server instance.
3. Develop modern RPG.ILE Web applications.
4. Develop Web applications where the RPG business logic program is developed independent of the XHTML user interface.
5. Develop RPG.ILE Web applications using embedded SQL and native record level access.
6. Use the wizard-driven interface to develop several applications including inquiries, subfile maintenance, and more.
7. Compile RPG.ILE Web applications into System i native program objects.
8. Fix compile-time and run-time errors from RPG.ILE Web applications.
