Using VB.Net and Apache Tomcat to Write Native iSeries Web Apps and Web Services

Speaker(s):
Richard Schoen RJS Software Systems

VB.Net and Apache Tomcat seem like an unlikely pair for creating web applications or web services that run natively on the iSeries. This session will cover how to use Microsoft Visual Studio.Net, VB.Net and ASP.Net to create web applications that can be compiled and run natively on the iSeries using the Apache Tomcat Web Server. For iSeries developers who find Java to be too difficult to learn and implement, Microsoft Visual Studio is the usual alternative, however until recently there was no good way to use Visual Studio for development yet run the resulting applications on the iSeries. Attendees will walk away with concrete examples and easy to implement techniques for becoming effective web and SOA web service application developers for the iSeries.
