Where No CL Has Gone Before

Speaker(s):
Guy Vig IBM Corporation

The enhancements made to the i5/ OS Control Language (CL) compiler in V5R3 and V5R4 have enabled CL application programs to call almost all of the program-level API's and procedure-level API's that IBM ships with i5/ OS. This session will explore some of these API's, and walks through some examples of applications which were previously "uncharted territory" for CL application developers.

Attendees will:
1. Review the CL enhancements added in V5R3 and V5R4.
2. Understand the types of APIs that CL can now call that used to be unreachable from CL.
3. Be able to use the example programs as the basis for extending their own CL programs.
