Brian Crowley mrc (michaels, ross and cole)

Web application development is a high priority for many IS departments. With so many Web architectures to choose from, it can be difficult to know how to get started. Due to considerations of speed, platform- and database-independence, and industry-wide backing, Java servlets provide the ultimate Web application architecture. This lab will show you how to get started.

This hands-on lab will demonstrate how to build live, high-performance, interactive Web applications using Java servlets, without manual programming. Using award-winning application development software, m-Power, lab participants will use an easy to navigate Web interface to quickly, and automatically generate powerful Web applications that access live iSeries data.

Each application built using Java servlet technology are WebSphere compatible and are fully portable, running on OS/ 400 and Linux.

By the end of this session, attendees will be able to:
1. Build interactive Web applications that access live iSeries data.
2. Understand how Java servlet applications perform.
3. Navigate the wizard-like menu of the m-Power Web interface.
