Jon Paris
Jon's S3X career started when he fell in love with the System/ 38 while working as a consultant. This love affair ultimately led him to joining IBM's Toronto Laboratory, where he worked on the S/ 36, S/ 38 and AS/ 400 COBOL and RPG compilers. He played a major role in the definition of the new RPG IV language and in promoting its use with IBM Business Partners and users. He was also heavily involved in producing educational and other support materials and services related to other AS/ 400 programming languages and development tools, such as CODE/ 400 and VisualAge for RPG.

Jon left IBM in 1998 and together with his partner Susan Gantner, founded Partner400, a System i consulting company focused on education and mentoring services in the Application Modernization arena. They co-authored IBM's popular Redbook for RPG programmers, entitled: Who Knew You Could Do That with RPG IV: A Sorcerer's Guide to System Access and More. They are also technical editors and authors for IBM's iSeries Magazine and regular authors for the companion newsletter, eServer Extra.
