VB.Net and Apache Tomcat seem like an unlikely pair for creating web applications or web services that run natively on i5/ OS. This session will cover how to use Microsoft Visual Studio.Net, VB.Net and ASP.Net to create web applications and web services that can be automatically compiled as Java byte code and run natively on i5/ OS using the Apache Tomcat Web Server. We'll also walk through the steps needed to deploy Apache Tomcat on i5/ OS. For i5/ OS developers who find Java to be too difficult to learn and implement, Microsoft Visual Studio is the usual alternative, however until recently there was no good way to use Visual Studio for development yet run the resulting applications natively on i5/ OS. ease of use of Visual Studio with the power of i5/ OS.
