In this lab, you will get a hands-on introduction to building ILE RPG CGI browser based programs using BCD's WebSmart ILE solution, listed on IBM's System i Developer Roadmap. You will learn about the performance and security advantages of web deployment using the Apache web server (a standard component of i5/ OS). You will create a browser based CGI application which starts with a login program authenticating an iSeries user ID and password. Then you will use WebSmart's comprehensive set of templates to build SQL driven inquiries, maintenance programs, drill downs and more. Optional exercises will introduce BCD's integrated Clover Query, a powerful report design wizard, to construct an SQL driven CGI web report complete with level breaks and totaling. This lab demonstrates just how easy CGI web development can be using a web development and deployment tool specifically built for RPG programmers on the iSeries.
