The new virtualization available with POWER5 has changed the ballgame for capacity planning. This session will provide an introduction and some basic planning tips for the new functionality introduced with POWER5 and AIX v5.3 including the Shared Processor LPAR capabilities. Some of the features that will be discussed will include shared processor pools, CPU capacity, capped and uncapped LPARs, and the shared I/ O capability introduced with the Virtual I/ O Server partition.
