With Tivoli Storage Manager, you have a choice of backup topologies: 1) Traditional over-the-network, 2) LAN-Free from a TSM client directly to a storage pool and 3) Server-free where an external SAN-attached data mover does the work of moving the data. This session will provide a comparison of these three topologies, focusing primarily on SAN exploitation with Tivoli Storage Manager. Included will be a discussion of hardware and software requirements, configuration options, and the advantages each alternative offers.
